Kyle T. Williamson, CLU ®

Managing Partner

Kyle is the Managing Partner for the Orlando General Office. Kyle came to Orlando in March 2011. He celebrated 30 years with New York Life in March of 2018. Before coming to Orlando, Kyle was the Zone Vice President for the West Central Zone in Dallas, Texas. He worked with 120 managers and 3,000 agents in 32 offices in 13 states. He started his career as an agent in the Northern Colorado office in Boulder, Colorado. He has held several positions in management including being a Training Supervisor, Sales Manager, Director of College Recruiting, Partner, and Managing Partner.

Since Kyle’s arrival, the office has experienced unprecedented growth in many areas. The Orlando General Office has won numerous Zone and National trophies. Kyle was elected to serve as the President of the Managing Partners Advisory Council in 2015. This year Kyle was awarded Lifetime Round Table member for New York Life, a distinction that only a handful of New York Life managers ever obtain. “This has been a culmination of many years’ experience. It’s not often that someone has the pleasure of doing something that they truly love. This isn’t just a job, it’s my life. I have only worked with this one great company. There are not a lot of people that can say that these days.”

Part of the reason the office is doing so well is due to the culture that Kyle and his management team have worked so hard to build. “Our goal is to create an environment that allows people to achieve their individual goals. New York Life’s structure is extremely empowering and that’s what we have created in Orlando. A person who is self-directed, has the desire to be in business for themselves but not by themselves, and is willing to take the personal responsibility to achieve their individual goals is in the right place.” In just seven years the Orlando office has promoted 26 agents into management. Some of these managers have stayed in different capacities in Orlando. Others have moved to regional and national positions. Two have been promoted to the position of Managing Partner.

Outside of work, Kyle’s biggest source of pride is his family. Kyle and his wife Ana have four children. Many of the corporate outreach endeavors revolve around children. Kyle sits on the board of the local chapter of Boy Scouts of America. He is an avid golfer and loves to compete at local, State, and National levels.

Debra S. Shahinian, FLMI

Corporate Vice President

Debbie started her NYL career in the Memphis General office in 2002. She spent several years with the NB21 Rollout and training offices across the country. She transferred to the Orlando General office in 2006 as Director of Operations and promoted to Corporate Vice President in 2015. Debbie, for several years, has been awarded the Administrative Manager of the Year for the South-Central Zone. She and her staff are responsible for all the New Business Processing, Agent Licensing and Contracting and, the General Office Operations.

Debbie was born in Chicago, IL and grew up in Memphis, TN. Graduating from Concordia University, NE with her BA in Elementary Education, Debbie taught school in Cleveland, OH, and Atlanta, GA. She loves to help those around her become the best they can and successful at whatever they touch.

Debbie has 3 children currently residing in Texas, Nevada, and Kentucky along with 4 grandchildren. She lives with her husband, John, in Maitland. Debbie enjoys cooking, wine tasting, traveling, exploring new adventures and meeting new people.

Chris Rich, CLU ®

Director of Development

Chris began his career with New York Life as an Agent in June of 2009, in the Greater South Carolina General Office in Charleston, SC. Chris’ primary motivation to join New York Life was to earn his way into Management by being a successful agent. Driven by a strong work ethic, positive attitude, and an extremely open mind, he was on his way to being a Partner with the Greater South Carolina office before being offered the Development Manager opportunity in the Central Carolina Sales office. Due to a strong desire to coach and develop others and support the growth of the office he made the transition to DM position in April 2011. In September 2014, Chris moved to the Orlando General Office to continue to advance his career with one of the premier offices in the Company. In March of 2015, Chris was promoted to Senior Sales Development Manager and is currently on the Development Manager Advisory Council after being elected by his peers at the National Development Managers meeting in May 2016. Since then, he has been promoted to Director of Development in 2018.

Prior to his career with New York Life, Chris spent over 9 years in Management with Wells Fargo Financial. The first 6 years spent running a Wells Fargo office in Warner Robins, GA and over 3 with Wells Fargo Financial Retail Services as a District Sales Manager responsible for a territory over GA, NC, and SC.

None of Chris’ accomplishments would be possible without the love and support from his wife of almost 20 years, Shireem and his two children, Carson and Sydney. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, playing just about any type of competitive sport or game, spending time outdoors including camping/hunting and watching movies.

Christopher J. Wilson

Chris started with New York Life as an Agent in September of 2008. As an Agent, he was honored with the following awards: Million Dollar Round Table member in 2010, Executive Council in 2009, 2010, 2011, Orlando G.O. Rookie of The Year in 2009, Orlando G.O. Associate of The Year in 2010, Orlando G.O. Life Case Rate Leader in 2009. He then became a Partner with the company in July of 2011. As a Partner, he qualified for View from The Top in 2013 and was a Leading Partner in 2015. Chris then got promoted to Senior Partner in September of 2016. Prior to joining New York Life, Chris worked at Walt Disney World. Chris graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration in 2008. Despite his busy career, Chris makes time to be involved with community organizations. He sits on the board for the local USF Alumni Association chapter and is the President of the local NAIFA Association. Chris lives in Downtown Orlando with his wife and son Dean. When not working, Chris enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors, attending sporting events, fantasy football, staying active, going to the gym, and traveling.

Hector Perez

Senior Partner

Hector Perez is a Partner at New York Life. In his role, he leads a business unit focused primarily on Transnational Planning for foreign investors and has additional oversight of business development and recruitment within the Hispanic, Brazilian, African-American, and LGBT markets.

In his previous role with New York Life, Hector was part of the Hispanic Market Expansion Initiative, serving as Senior Manager for Hispanic and Brazilian markets in Central Florida. He led talent acquisition, business development, and community partnership strategy in the 7-county area, was the cultural/demographic consultant, and served as the spokesperson on behalf of the organization in the community.

Prior to his New York Life career, Hector held multiple leadership and individual contributor roles within The Walt Disney Company in the areas of International Public & Media Relations, Workforce Management, Event Development, Catering & Conventions, Sales & Marketing, as well as Park/Resort Operations. In a dual capacity, Hector was President of the Walt Disney World ® Hispanic Organization for Leadership Advancement, a resource group that sought to provide insight to internal operations by engaging Hispanic employees while providing career advancement exposure for that segment.

Additional experiences include Operations leadership for Anheuser-Busch Adventure Parks, Sales leadership for Vector Marketing, and Foreign Language facilitation at the University of Puerto Rico.

In the community, Hector serves as President of ALPFA Orlando and South Region Director for ALPFA Corporate. In this dual role, he leads the local Orlando chapter as well as supports the south region’s other 9 chapters of the nation's largest professional development organization for Hispanics, helping build and develop Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation in every sector of the economy. He is also a Board Member of the Hispanic Business Initiative Fund of Florida, a Young Executive member at The Citrus Club - the Orlando affiliate of the ClubCorp Group - and a Local Business Affiliate of Major League Soccer’s Orlando City Soccer Club. In 2012, he was recognized as one of Central Florida’s 25 Most Influential Hispanics by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando.

Hector was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico where he completed his B.B.A in Marketing Management with a minor in Modern Foreign Languages, later moving to São Paulo, Brazil where he continued to study and teach languages. He is fluent in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. He has called Central Florida home since 2007.

Bob Rice

Partner

Robert joined The New York Life team in October of 2013, where he qualified for Executive Council. He also won New Org Agent of the Year in 2014, as well as the Life Producer Award. In 2015 Robert achieved his second Executive Council, and Annuity Elite, and then turned his attention to become Partner. Robert was one of the first in the new Associate Partner training program and graduated in March of 2016.

Prior to his career at New York Life, Robert was a successful entrepreneur, and award winning restaurateur. When not working, Robert enjoys spending time with his family.

Alexendra M. Ferrer

Partner

Alexandra became an Associate Partner with New York Life in September of 2015. A new program the associate Partner role was an intensive 6-month program designed to prepare potential partners for their new role. She graduated from this program and became a Partner in March of 2016. Alexandra started with the company as an Agent at only 20 years old in November of 2013. She has since been honored by being awarded: Youngest Council Member of Orlando G.O History, Quality Council in 2014, Executive Council in 2015, Career Success Recipient March 2014, Life Producer Award May 2014, and Life Foundation award winner in November 2014. She is currently the youngest woman in New York Life history of management. Prior to joining New York Life, Alexandra worked at Swingtime Golf USA, Universal Orlando, and Orange County National.

Alexandra attends the University of Central Florida. Despite her busy career, Alexandra makes time to be involved with community organizations. She is a current board member of the Orlando chapter of Girls on the Run serving as their 5k committee chair/ race director. She lives in Winter Park with her puppy Johnathan. When she isn’t working, Alexandra can typically be found at a local footrace. She was the first overall women finisher of the April 01, 2016 4.01k Race for Financial fitness with a time of 17:32.

Rafael S. Marquez

Originally from Maracaibo, Venezuela, Rafael came to the United States in 2011 with dreams to work in a big company. Through ALPFA (Association of Latino Professionals for America), Rafael has introduced to New York Life and the opportunities the company provided. Having an academic background in engineering and over 10 years professional experience in Marketing, Sales & Business Operations, he had the skills to become successful with New York Life and began his career as an agent in Orlando, FL in 2012. As an agent, Rafael was a Council Agent and won different awards like The Career Success Award, 2013 Agency Builder Award and 3 times the Top Gun Award.

Brandon Wasson

Brandon Wasson, a Florida native, studied Finance and Leadership Studies at the University of South Florida. During his time at USF, Brandon was an executive board member of Phi Delta Theta Fraternity. After graduating with his bachelor's degree in 2007 he quickly started his career in Financial Services. He began his career at AIG Financial Network as an agent and was promoted to Agency Director in 2010. Brandon has received numerous awards during his illustrious career thus far. The honor grad of his incoming NYL 2016 class, Brandon began his New York Life career as an agent before transitioning to Partner in October 2016. His hobbies are fishing, golf and hanging out with his Boston terrier, Bella. When he heads down south to visit home he gets to enjoy time with his niece Alyvia and nephew Zakary.

James began his career with New York Life as an agent with New York Life in November of 1999, for the Tampa General Office. Jim was offered the Development Manager opportunity in Tampa in 2004 and assisted his management team in developing hundreds of agents for the Tampa GO before accepting the position of Agency Standards Consultant in 2006. Jim spent the next 10 years in the Richmond and Norfolk GO’s in the state of Virginia until the ASC position opportunity became available in the Orlando and Tampa GO’s January 2017.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Florida State University in 1989 and began a successful management career with Foot Locker. After earning the title of store manager in 1993, Jim managed stores in Pinellas Park, Panama City, Tampa, and Bradenton Florida over the next six years.

Jim spends as much time as possible with his family and enjoys activities that include fishing, camping, cannoning, diving, boating, and plenty of time at the beach.

After acquiring her MBA at Rollins College - Crummer Graduate School of Business, she was offered a role with an expedited track into the leadership position she holds today.

In two prior capacities, she served as a Financial Services Professional and Agency Recruiting & Hispanic Market Coordinator.

Before joining New York Life, she was a Financial Analyst for Verizon Corporate as part of the Finance Transformation initiative, leading database conversion, efficiency, and accuracy improvement projects, while monitoring performance, variances, and trending.

Her international professional experience includes consulting projects for global companies such as Electrolux in Trieste, Italy in the area of new product development as well as market expansion in Bucharest, Romania for the GMP Group, an advertising firm.

Her Orlando-based consulting experience includes projects for SightPlan (software developer), RVR Consulting Group (management consulting) and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida. Other local experiences include Financial Analyst for Orlando Utilities Commission and a Finance and Marketing apprenticeship for the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Metro Orlando.

In the community, Nicole serves as Executive Vice President ALPFA Orlando – the Association of Latino Professionals for America – the largest leadership and professional development organization for Hispanics. ALPFA builds and develops Latino men and women as leaders of character for the nation in every sector of the economy. Nicole joined ALPFA as a student member at the University of Central Florida and has continued her membership through ALPFA Orlando’s Professional Chapter where she became an active committee member and later led the Logistics Committee for the 2015 Women of ALPFA Event, led the 2016 Leadership and Professional Development Summit, served as Project Manager for the 2017 Women of ALPFA program and oversaw the partnership with the Girl Scouts in Central Florida.

Nicole graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Finance and later completed her Master’s in Business Administration at Rollin’s College Crummer Graduate School of Business, in which she graduated with honors, top of her class, and obtained a Certification in Leadership. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico and currently resides in Orlando, FL.
